One of the summer staples of North Central Indiana is the annual Peru Amateur Youth Circus, which also includes the Circus City Days Festival. The events also included a beloved community parade.
All of these festivities are why Peru is known as one of the circus capitals of the world, and residents here couldn’t be more proud. The festivities in their current, dates back to 1960, and the circus includes hundreds of performers each year. However, Peru’s history as a performance center for these traveling acts dates back to the late 1800s, and during the 1920s, our town was often referred to as “Circus City.”
The parade and related events are always planned for July. For more information, visit www.perucircus.com.
